Caring for Oily Skin at Home with Solvaderm

Oily skin affects people of all ages, not just teenagers. You may be suffering from the shiny skin throughout the day and you are wondering how to fix it. The good news is that there are plenty of things you can do at home to reduce your production of sebum (oil). You can also trust products that help keep excess oil at bay like Solvaderm’s line of products that are formulated for oily skin.

The first step in treating oily skin is keeping it clean and free from oil. You want to be sure you are cleansing your face twice daily followed by a toner and moisturizer. Be sure you do not skip the moisturizer. If you wear cosmetics, you want to choose products that are oil free and non-comedogenic that way the stuff you are putting on your face isn’t leading to, even more, oil!
Egg whites and lemon juice work really well to reduce oil on your face. You can apply both alone or together to your face – just a few minutes is all you need.

Yogurt is a great way to reduce oil production as it contains lactic acid and will absorb excess oil naturally and gently. Milk also works well and can be applied to your skin for a few minutes every week.

Tomatoes work really well and are naturally clarifying. Simply cut a tomato in half and rub it on your face. Leave it on for about 10 to 15 minutes and wash off with cool water followed by your moisturizer.

Aloe vera is a natural antimicrobial and it works excellently to remove excess oil from the skin. Simply cut an aloe vera leaf in half and apply the gel to your skin and let dry. You can leave it on as long as you would like. You can also mix aloe vera gel with honey and the honey will work to moisturize the skin while also providing the benefits from the aloe.

The tips above are great to use at home weekly but great skin comes with daily habit changes. Treating oily skin with the right skin care routine is essential. You want to make sure you are using a gentle cleanser and avoid anything with harsh chemicals as they can cause your skin to produce even more oil. Select products that contain ingredients like salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or beta-hydroxy acids which can help cut oil production while keeping breakouts at bay. You always want to finish with a mild toner that has been formulated for oil skin. Lastly, treat any other condition you may have with the appropriate skin treatment.

Be sure to consult with your skin care professional if you feel like you need extra help with treating your oily skin. Solvaderm’s full line of oily skin care products are designed to reduce oil production, soothe irritated skin, and moisturize your skin to help keep your skin looking and feeling its best. You don’t have to suffer with oily skin any longer.
